In view of the key scientific problems that restrict the further development of the marine biological industry, the State Key Laboratory of Seaweed Bioactive Substances has carried out laboratory construction and related research work in the following three directions:
(1) extraction and isolation of active substances from seaweeds;
(2) functional modification of marine active substances;
(3) efficacy and application of seaweed active substance.
Research directions: 1. Extraction and isolation of active substances from seaweeds
(1) by studying the theory and technology of extracting active substances from seaweeds, the engineering technical problems in preparation of liposoluble and water-soluble constituents in seaweed were solved;
(2) by studying the mechanism of degradation and adsorption of endotoxin, glycoprotein and other trace components, the purification technology of active ingredient in seaweed was studied;
(3) to establish the quality standard of seaweed polysaccharide in vivo by studying the detection and detection methods of high purity and super pure medical grade algae active substances.
Research directions: 2. Study on functional modification of seaweed active substances
(1) built into industrial seaweed resources, carry out the kelp genome, metabonomics, synthesis mechanism analysis of important active substances; establishment of algae species, distribution, resource volume database with typical industry; through the research on the algae degrading enzyme, isomerase active substance of molecular weight, chemical structure, research and development of algae active material controllable degradation, synthesis, enzymatic modification of key technology;
(2) by studying the reaction properties of the active substances in the oxidation, reduction and graft reaction, the derivatives were prepared to improve their reactivity and processability;
(3) through the application of nano materials, microcapsules and other technologies to obtain nanoscale and controllable release of algae active substances.
Research directions 3: efficacy and application of seaweed active substances
(1) establish a database of active substances derived from industrial algae (compounds, derivatives, etc.), and establish an evaluation system for the correlation between structure and biological activity of active substances in seaweeds;
(2) using various molecular and cellular models to evaluate the mechanism of active substances and their derivatives in anticancer, hemostasis, promoting healing and weight loss, and establish their application database;
(3) by means of animal and clinical tests on the efficacy of seaweed active substances, pilot experiments were conducted on functional foods, medical products, cosmetics and ecological agriculture.
